Euro 2008 tickets lottery begins
03-15-2008A random draw for tickets for the Euro 2008 football championships begins for Polish group games at 4 p.m., Friday.
Spokesman for the Polish Football Association (PZPN) Zbigniew Kozminski has explained that eighteen draws will take place - three for each group match that the Polish team is involved in. There will also be so-called conditional tickets available if the Poland team qualifies for the play-offs.
The lottery procedure is said to be completely computerised. The lucky fans who win the tickets, will be notified about the fact by e-mail.
A total of 7,000 tickets are on sale, constituting only 36 per cent of the total ticket pool earmarked for Poland by UEFA. PZPN will distribute the majority of them among sponsors and football clubs.
Over one million Polish football fans have entered the ticket lottery.
The unlucky ones will still be able to buy packages including match tickets from travel agents if they are ready to pay a hefty premium.
Anna Swidzinska from a Krakow estate agent's has said that the Euro 2008 ticket prices will go up day by day.
Poland will play its first match against Germany in Klagenfurt on the second day of the event, June 8.
